London 2012 Young Leaders Programme

In bidding for the 2012 Games, London 2012 made a commitment to deliver a project to put 100 Young Leaders on an intensive personal development programme, to enable them to play a significant role in the delivery of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.

The BP sponsored Young Leaders Programme is designed to give a cohort of disadvantaged young people the opportunity to take part in a life changing programme which offers them training, coaching, and the chance to lead volunteering opportunities  between April 2010 and the end of the Games in September 2012.

This personal development and volunteering programme will enable the young leaders to have a positive impact on their communities.  They will also receive coaching support and guidance from BP employees and  the programme will culminate in the young leaders taking a high profile role at Games time.

The delivery organisations are v (the National Young Volunteers Service) and the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust. At the Trust we help to provide the young leaders with the relevant support and opportunities in their local community, including additional support from a number of athlete mentors.
