The Harnessing Talent Programme provides elite sports performers with advice, support, guidance and practical workshops as they transition from international competition to a new career.
Through a comprehensive offer of 'National Support' we give elite sports performers the chance to develop the skills and knowledge they need to perform the following roles:
For elite sports performers, what does that mean?
What the sports person doesn't know what they want to do in the future?
Every elite sports performer is invited to a 'Next Steps' session. This gives them the opportunity to meet with the DKH Legacy Trust team to discuss and develop their personal development plans.
Jenna Downing, World Champion in Extreme In-Line Skating said of the first session,
"It was good to dig deeper into our thoughts and discover our values".
Jenna has gone on to become a lead mentor on many of the charity's projects. So what do the athletes who have gone through the programme and gained employment think?
Toby Box, Commonwealth Bronze medallist in Athletics said:
"What happens to sports people after retirement, having struggled myself for so long, is a subject close to my heart, I'd be honoured and very happy to say that I'll be supporting the DKH Legacy Trust wherever possible into the future."
