We are working in partnership with Skill Force to deliver the Young People Re-engagement Programme.
The project, which began in early 2012, sees DKH Legacy Trust athlete mentors work young people at risk of exclusion from secondary schools.
Working with a group of 15 young people, Trust athlete mentors are focusing on re-engagement, whereby the young people will become motivated and determined to get back into mainstream education.
The aim of the programme is to re-engage over a sustained period of time and to maintain a close and strong bond with more formal approaches to learning.
A range of partners will also be supporting the young people on this project; Skill Force, By Design, Youth at Risk and School Home Support.
The Trust has worked with Skill Force in the past to deliver Making Headway, a project which developed the personal learning skills of young people aged 14-16, and increasing their employability.
