The National Conference, which is to be hosted by Dame Kelly, is a key event in our annual calendar of education and development events as part of our National Support Programme. This aims to support retired elite sports performers to improve their skills.

On 1st April an event tailored for NGBs will be taking place, involving Sport England, SportsAid, CCPR and BOA. This was a successful session last year and we have decided to carry this on due to popular demand.

The conference is aimed at the Trust's Harnessing Talent Athletes, giving them the opportunity to learn about other career options, including how to be inspiring mentors to young people through our different programmes. It is essential for the Harnessing Talent Athletes to make sure that they gain the best coaching themselves on how to take their careers forward after sport; especially through the different programmes that the DKH Legacy Trust runs.

With the speakers from Financial Services and Sport Organisations confirmed, and three 'streams' across the two days on Business Development, Youth Development and Personal Development, we are confident this Conference will grow on last year's success.

Anna Jackson, who competed at the Sydney Paralympic Games said on last years conference Anna added, "it was a great and very useful day. Mainly I've been inspired to go away and take action and implement my ideas. I got some very useful tips on interview techniques and CVs".

We would like to say a huge thank you to Nottingham County Cricket Club for assisting us to host this event at their prestigious Trent Bridge ground. An event like this really does need some amazing sporting arena to hold it in, and we have found this in Trent Bridge.

With the help of our partners the BAC and Sport2Business amongst others, DKH Legacy Trust recently held a "Harnessing Your Talents" conference in Leeds.

This event pulled a tremendous amount of highly regarded companies and exceptional speakers, such as Steve Parry (Olympic Medallist, Swimming), Jennie Price (CEO of Sport England), Zara Hyde Peters (CEO British Triathlon), Jeremy Lazarus (Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming), Russell Yeomans (Co-Chair Sport2Business) and Odgers, Ray and Berndtson. These specialists discussed topics varying from setting up your own business, developing interview techniques, increasing the chance of future success using NLP, goal setting, working in youth engagement and roles available within the sports sector.

The networking evening was also a particular success, pulling together the likes of the Adidas Group, Price Waterhouse Coopers, and British Athletes' Commission. We have had great feedback from both the tutors and elite performers so far... 100% of those who filled out the questionnaire would like to work with us in the future, and 95% rated the event either 'very good' or 'excellent' (of which 68% said it was 'excellent'). We are so pleased that this kind of support is making a real difference to the future direction of the elite performers we are working with.
