The DKH Legacy Trust was out of the stalls with a flying start as the Trust launched the start of it's fundraising campaign at Lingfield Park Racecourse on Saturday.
The welcome March sunshine ensured a fantastic turnout at the Winter Derby with families young and old enjoying the day out at the races and the extra bonus of meeting Double Olympic Champion Dame Kelly Holmes.
And the crowds meant huge support for the fundraising activities which took place through out the day and gave a great opportunity for Dame Kelly and her team to raise awareness of Kelly's new charity and gain the support of local people so close to where she grew up as well as raising awareness through the live coverage by Channel 4 of the DKH Legacy Trust Raceday.
Julie Whelan, Chief Executive Officer of the DKH Legacy Trust said:
"We have been overwhelmed by support shown today by the general public for Dame Kelly's new charity. As some one well known for her work in the charitable sector, it is fantastic to see such support for a cause Kelly is so passionate about. The public supported her throughout her athletics career, and it seems they are supporting her in her new venture too".
