16/06/2009 News! Team Nightingale a Brands Hatch success!

With the eyes of the motor racing world looking to Silverstone next weekend, Dame Kelly Holmes attended Brands Hatch Fun Cup racing on Saturday to support the Nightingale Team who were racing for our charity.

This was the Nightingale Team’s first season participating in the Fun Cup Endurance Race series. Where they came a very respectable Bronze position in the ‘Petrol Class’.

While visiting the world famous sporting venue, Kelly Holmes spent some time in the Brands Hatch pit lanes, trying out for size one of the Fun Cup vehicles, drawing the teams’ grid lane positions for the afternoon’s Fun Cup race and presenting the winners with their trophies.

Prior to the event, Nightingale Racing co-driver, Michael Lockyer, Kelly Holmes’s host for the day and a supporter of DKH Legacy Trust said, “I am delighted Kelly is joining Nightingale Racing at Brands Hatch to meet my co-drivers, mechanics and other crew that make our entry to the Fun Cup possible. I’m a huge fan of the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust and its commitment to inspire young people to find and fulfil their potential in sport or in life through working with elite sports performers. I’m sure Kelly’s desire to win will inspire my team and all others competing on the day to do their best, in what is going to be a tough race.”

Michael Lockyer is managing partner of Nightingale Associates, the financial services arm of Mercer & Hole chartered accountants. Nightingale Associates is providing financial skills workshops for DKH Legacy Trust elite sports performers to ensure they are well equipped to transition to their new careers post-sport.

Dame Kelly really enjoyed the day, and definitely found the bug for motor racing!
